I've got a few ideas to cater for some 'special interests'.

Diggerland-Castleford in West Yorkshire.  We haven't been but have heard good reports and can see the appeal!

Jodrell Bank Visitor Centre - Been several times and our eldest would move in if he could!

Royal Armouries - Leeds - Great re-enactments, falconry and jousting.

Catalyst Science Discovery Centre - Widnes

Great for a day out but they have a science club for 11-14 once a month on a Saturday (FOC) and a club for over 14's. Our eldest has been a couple of times and really enjoyed it except for the travelling.

Magna is a science adventure center in Sheffield. I have been before and really enjoyed it.:)

there are four pavilions earth, fire, air and water. the earth and water pavilions are more child-friendly as there is lots of interactivity. the other two are more interesting for older children. Its quite big and there is lots to see and do, it also has a nice outdoor play area with a water play area next to it where you can get wet!, it has a nice picnic area too.

hi Djm many thanks for your idea's and your comments on magna:), i think tasca should organise a trip here in the summer holidays. look out for the trips information running during the summer holidays comming soon. Also more comments are needed from other tasca members on what we can do in the local area during this holiday.:D

Hi how about lytham beach it's lovely doesn't get too overcrowded soemtimes there are donkeys and a bouncy castle there are decent loos and a paddling pool and not loads of places to spend money !! we go loads ,lots of room to play ball games with the kids and fresh air, obviously there is a chippy and a shop and an arcade but we have enjoyed a picnic on the beach so much we hardly ever spend anything , there's not many places where you can say that!!!
