I am around to discuss the setting up of a Glossop based group. I've broached the subject before with Derbyshire Carers about the needs for such a group but a group called CAPCAN (carers and parents of Children with Additional Needs) was established to encompass other Special Need Conditions. I believe funding for this group has been withdrawn due to poor attendance. However, it became inaccessible to me personally when I returned to work after an earlier period of mat. leave.  In Oldham we highlighted the need for an evening group as a daytime meeting can exclude such a lot of people leaving them isolated. Consequently, we set up an evening meeting to compliment the daytime one.

It may be difficult for me to get to the Tuesday meeting. I've got children in both High Peak Enhanced Resource settings in mainstream schools. (Glossopdale and Chapel) and we've used two local nursery providers. I'm at the point of having to reduce my work hours again, due to the absence of appropriate service  provision, so am well aware of the impact on everday living and resulting frustration. We also have links with Contact a Family and are members of Cerebra and NAS.  Obviously very busy, with a third son due to commence assessment  and are time limited (home situation requires two adults) but will help where possible.

I feel a Glossop group would be well supported and much appreciated :)

i fully agree with you and there was a parent forum group that has now closed in glossop because of poor attendance but i have had adrian from being 9 months old and was never told from any of the professionals about any support groups even though i asked.i have just found tasca because i am thinking of moving into tameside because of the lack of support in glossop
